History

Alpine River Outfitters was formally known as Gorsuch Outfitters. Originally, this was a partnership between the Gorsuch Family, John Cochran and Dave Bishop. In 1994, Gorsuch Outfitters burst on to the fly fishing scene and have been going strong ever since.

In 1999, a few changes came about and the operation was moved to Edwards, Colorado just a short drive from Vail. That year John Cochran and his wife Marianne took control of the entire operation and became sole owners of the business.

The shop in Edwards was built in 1999 and has been a huge success as well as a great place to centralize the operation in the Vail Valley. The guide service has grown over the years to 15 full time guides each summer and offers plenty of year-round fishing opportunities.

In 2007, Gorsuch Outfitters was sold to Alpine River Outfitters and the name is now changed to reflect that. What has not changed is the excellence in customer service and the presence of the most experienced, top guides in the Valley. We're on the water every day and we're not afraid to share friendly advice. We look forward to continuing our service to the Vail Valley and beyond with the best outfitting services in the West.
